News Travels Spring 2015 Summer is around the corner!

Spring 2015 has been a busy semester in the LLRC and we love the busyness. The students and faculty really make working in the lab a great experience. As we roll along with the semester, we have a few updates we would like to share with you.

Language Learning Resource Center

Tutoring services

As we reported in the December 2014 newsletter, the LLRC is now offering language tutoring for the lower level courses in all languages. This is a popular service and we have noticed it is really picking up as the semester heats up. Each tutor establishes their own hours and we have these posted on the department website, as well as on a big whiteboard in the LLRC. If you, or someone you know, needs a tutor please check in with us. We would be happy to assist you.

Video streaming

This is another popular service in the lab. The media page has been accessed over 800 times since the beginning of the semester. Students are now able to view the films for their courses in the comfort of the lab, on a schedule that fits their own.

Department website update

We have been hard at work on the new department website. We have a new design that we are constantly tweaking and a great deal of the content has been copied over to the new site, updated, or simply pruned out. We are on schedule to begin a staged rollover to the new site beginning around June 1, 2015 with the completion happening by the beginning of the Fall 2015 semester. The web address will remain the same so the initial changes should be quite noticeable. We will appreciate any feedback as we proceed throughout the summer.
